Hi! I’m Ann Swanson
I empower people to heal themselves by making yoga and mind-body practices non-intimidating and practical.
It really seems magical, but mounting scientific research supports the benefits of mind-body practices like yoga for pain relief, improved mental health, better sleep, and more. There is a reason that these ancient practices have stood the test of time.
This truly works!
I am a science nerd. I speak and teach on the key research supporting yoga and meditation, along with the basic anatomy for adapting yoga to be safe, effective, and accessible for all body types and conditions. My books, Science of Yoga and Meditation for the Real World, present the science and practice in a straightforward and simple way.
…But I am also open to spirituality. I embrace that word, but you don’t have to call it “spirituality” if you don’t feel comfortable with it. Call it “a life of more purpose” or “deeper meaning”. Either way, I believe there are some questions that science perhaps can’t answer, but we will continue to ask and continue to explore with endless curiosity.
ABOUT Ann
Bio
Title: Ann Swanson, MS, C-IAYT, LMT, E-RYT500
Short Bio:
Ann Swanson teaches meditation to busy people with busy minds. She is the author of the bestselling book SCIENCE OF YOGA, which has been translated into over 15 languages. Her new book, Meditation for the Real World, illuminates the fascinating science behind meditation with step-by-step practices to help you find peace in everyday life. However, Ann wasn’t a naturally “chill person,” and meditation didn’t come easy to her. Overcoming chronic pain and anxiety led her to India to study yoga, to China to explore tai chi, into the cadaver lab to teach anatomy, to night school to become a licensed massage therapist, and, ultimately, to earn a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy. Ann blends cutting-edge research with ancient wisdom, resulting in realistic techniques you won’t just learn – you’ll love to live by!
Long Bio:

She internationally speaks and teaches on the science supporting yoga’s benefits to both the public and in yoga teacher training programs. My Mission:
I guide people to understand and experience the profound benefits of yoga and mind-body practices. I believe that simple practices with ancient roots can be modernized to be non-intimidating, practical, and accessible to anyone, anywhere. Ultimately, I empower people to transform their own lives.
My Vision:
I envision a world where we are kind to ourselves & each other. When we fall, we get back up with grace & resilience. We face challenges with curiosity, creativity, & courage. We constantly remind ourselves that perfection is a mathematical concept, not a human concept. In my world, we all feel confident, joyful, & free enough to dance in our kitchens like nobody’s watching.
